The trailers are dropped at our location and we unload them at some point in the future or as they are needed. Advanced Protocols are essentially a Plan B. We stress to all customers how important it is to set these up before using our services. These protocols lay out a plan of action in the event a certain circumstance occurs. Out of stock on a particular product? You can have and AP in place that addresses the issue. It may direct staff to substitute another product in its place. This does several things. It saves times, eliminates stress, and prevents last minute scrambling to fill the orders and get them out on time.
Everybody already knows what to do and they can implement the action plan right away. Something that could have put a complete stop to operations is quickly addressed and becomes only a slight bump instead of an insurmountable obstacle.
Being able to keep schedules is a key point to order fulfillment being a success or failure. Incoming deliveries can get backed up at the loading dock and outgoing orders can be delayed as well. Neither case is ideal. Part of our solution to this is to allow drop shipments. By having some loads drop shipped, we can easily work them into our schedule and unload more efficiently and in a more practical manner. It allows us to also unload more pressing loads first and prioritize deliveries to work smarter.
Another solution is pre-loading. With pre-loading, we can schedule loading a trailer during slower work periods so that it is ready to go when the carrier shows up. There is no rush to load product while a carrier is toe-tapping at the loading dock.
We have developed a unique system of scanners and barcodes that we use to track inventory. Each unique label is affixed to an item upon delivery. This label and barcode include all the information about that particular product. Once the label is affixed, the barcode is scanned and the item is automatically entered into inventory. It will indicate what area it should be stored in and if any special handling is required. When the item goes out, scanning the barcode will remove the item from inventory.

These relationships put us in the unique situation where we are provided with incredible discounts from those carriers that we pass along to our customers. Our connections with our vendors and customers are all designed to be beneficial to all participants. We could keep these discounts to ourselves, but then that isn’t who we are – we want a win-win for everyone.
NOTIFICATIONS AND EDI
EDI stands for Electronic Data Interchange and it allows our customers to receive immediate updates on the status of their incoming and outgoing deliveries. The system also permits them to make changes to those deliveries quickly and easily. Furthermore, it is a great way to communicate with our staff. We recommend all clients utilize the EDI for its convenience and speed.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)
Every business uses KPIs. They are one of our best indicators for determining where we are doing well and where we need improvement. Unlike other companies, we actually offer to add to our already existing KPIs at our clients’ request. If there is a KPI they are interested in or need to track for their own business, we will add it to our KPIs and provide them with the data and results as requested.
